Bear Facts
Teddy Bear Pools History
Ted Hebert began Teddy Bear Pools in 1975, operating out of his family's house in East Springfield. When he started, there were only four employees. The company sold, installed, repaired and serviced in-ground and above-ground pools. Teddy Bear is a play on the French pronunciation of Ted Hebert. (It was also Ted's nickname as a young child!) When his mother first suggested it as a business name, Ted was not convinced it was really appropriate. After thinking it over, he realized that the Teddy Bear symbol was friendly and family-oriented, a good representation of a business that was centered around home and family; it was easy to remember and very friendly so he incorporated under the name Teddy Bear Pools. Ted was and is the sole owner, priding himself on running a family-style business. Even before starting his own business, he had plenty of experience in the swimming pool field. He began in 1965, at the age of 14, vacuuming pools and working on the display lot of a swimming pool retailer. In 1975 he became a subcontractor, installing pools for various pool companies. By 1978, Teddy Bear Pools had moved out of the carport in East Springfield to a small garage on Memorial Drive in Chicopee and had grown to 15 employees. In 1979, Ted moved the company to its present home at 41 East Street, Chicopee, Massachusetts.

A Note From Ted:

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and my company to you. I feel it is very important that you know something about the company and the people you will be in contact with at Teddy Bear Pools and Spas.
I am the sole proprietor of Teddy Bear Pools and Spas and began this company out of my parents' home in 1975. Since then, we have become Esther William's largest single-store pool dealership in New England. This has been accomplished by much hard work and the philosophy that if you keep your customers happy, they will keep coming back and will send all their friends your way. I feel that my best salesperson is a happy customer and I am fortunate to have so many good salespeople out there! Since then, we have also received several awards from Marquis and Hot Spring Portable Spas for our large quantity of buying volume and our never-ending desire to make the customer happy.
I can promise you that we care about our customers and we'll be here year after year. But don't just take my word for it, ask around and you'll see for yourself! Our reputation for quality and service precedes us.
I invite you to look at our local competitors and compare. You will find when comparing apples to apples, we offer the best value for your dollar. If you feel you are getting a better deal elsewhere, please get a written quote and some literature. We will be glad to sit down with you to compare value.
I am always interested in receiving your feedback and hearing your opinions, so please feel free to contact me. I'm especially interested in your comments regarding my employees; both the sales staff and the installers. We strive to make sure that you are treated courteously and professionally at all times. If you are not, I would like to know.
It is my sincere hope that we can install a pool or spa in your backyard. Remember, you are buying a company, not just a pool or hot tub. Thank you for your time and consideration and for giving me the opportunity to serve you.
The only place to go when you live in Western Massachusetts.
Sincerely,
Ted Hebert
President and Owner
