PLUG W/ O-RING -HAYWARD
This is an original Hayward plug. It is used for a variety of applications in the pool and spa industry. We sell thousands of these threaded plugs w/o'ring for winterizing. This is a standard size threaded plug for most in-ground and aboveground return lines. It is important to plug or eliminate the chance for water to drain into or out of the pool during winter shut-down. Most pool return assemblies have what is called a directional eyeball fitting. This fitting threads into a white faceplate that secures the liner to the pool wall. In the fall you simply unthread the entire directional fitting from the faceplate and winterize accordingly. For in-ground pools you usually blow air from the filter and/or pump back into the return line to remove water that is present. The air forces the water into the pool and the threaded SP1022C plug is installed to prevent backflow of water back into the line. You should definitely do this in areas where water freezes. You must also plug the return fitting for all aboveground pools to eliminate water loss after the pool cover is installed. When you cover an aboveground pool with a solid cover, rain and snow on top can displace water upwards. Just like a bathtub. When you settle into it, the water rises. If you allow water to escape, you can lose a foot of water during the winter season. Plus, you will probably ruin your pool cover from the force of the weight pushing down lower and lower into the pool. Get the plug! It is inexpensive and it works.
